Halloween Paddle Change: 6:30pm meet at north west end of Columbia Canal not Congaree River. Due to no moon this Friday and temperatures in low 40s, we have decided to do paddle on Columbia Canal. This is a 1 1/2 to 2 hour paddle flatwater with no rocks. Canal has lights all along walking trail. Meet at dirt parking lot near diversion dam. Follow Broad River Road from Greystone Blvd toward river, cross bridge over Broad River and Columbia Canal and take first left, follow gravel road to end at dirt parking lot (about 1 mile). Paddle starts and ends here. Back to landing at 8:30pm for party. Please email Dennis Catoe if you plan to bring food or want to help with party. Wear Halloween costumes, best costume will be picked.

Meet: 6:30 Cayce River Front Park. Carry boats down to boat landing below amphitheater.

Paddle Skills: All paddlers beginner to expert. Due to numerous rocks, shorter boats or good turning skills are helpful.

Boats: All boats but fiberglass not recommended due to rocks.

Description: Night paddle on Congaree River. Flat water trip from Cayce River Park to Barney Jordan Landing near Fairgrounds. Approximately 1½ hour trip. Wear Halloween costumes. Be sure not restrictive in case you spill and swim. In 6 years, never had a swimmer yet. Best costume will be selected at take-out.

Recommended Gear: Lights (headlamps or other lighting). Bug protection. Good water shoes. Helmets not required.

Optional: Party at take-out approximately 8:15 pm. Food and drinks. Those not wishing to paddle can still join party at landing. Advise me if you are coming and if bringing food. I would like one or more persons to coordinate party. Please call me to volunteer.

Directions to Take-out: Barney Jordan Landing. (After Olympia school and as SC Fairgrounds appear on left, take right at boat landing sign, follow all the way to the end. Landing is well lit and has numerous parking spaces.)
